Mitel OpenScape Business: support, maintenance and upgrades

Mitel OpenScape Business is the PBX for small and medium-sized businesses, from Unify, which is now part of Mitel. We provide support for it in Sweden and Germany, including on V2, and we upgrade it or connect it to Teams.

We usually start with a simple inventory of your PBX, licences and integrations.

About Mitel OpenScape Business

A PBX for small and medium-sized businesses

OpenScape Business brings telephony, presence, conferencing, voicemail, mobility and contact centre together in one system. According to Mitel, it suits 2 to 500 users per system, and up to 2,000 in a network. The software version, OpenScape Business S, handles up to 1,500 users in one system.

The X1, X3, X5 and X8 models are physical PBXs for IP phones, digital and analogue extensions and wireless phones on site (DECT). OpenScape Business S runs on a server or virtually, for example on VMware or Hyper-V, and can be networked with a physical model when you need ISDN or analogue lines.

The platform is the successor to HiPath 3000. Unify, formerly Siemens Enterprise Communications, was bought by Mitel in 2023, and the system is now called Mitel OpenScape Business. The latest version is V4.

We are a Mitel Silver Partner and authorised for OpenScape (formerly Siemens and Unify, now Mitel). We also look after OpenScape Business for smaller companies, and with us you can speak directly to a technician.

Support

Support and maintenance for OpenScape Business

We support OpenScape Business in all versions, including V2 after 31 December 2026, and the older HiPath 3000. This applies in Sweden and Germany. If you have an older version, we can upgrade it so that it receives Mitel’s fixes again.

What’s included

  • Fault reporting and troubleshooting, with remote access that you control
  • Contact with Mitel when a case needs escalating
  • Changes to the PBX, such as extensions, groups and permissions
  • Mitel’s security fixes, applied according to a plan
  • Software Support and licences with Mitel
  • Regular reviews of the PBX and a plan for the next step

We describe what a support contract should include in the guide PBX support contracts.

Fault reporting

Report faults as set out in your support contract, which also states the hours that apply. No contract with us yet? Call +46 8 730 66 00 or email info@icomserv.com.

V2 mainboard

When support for the V2 mainboard ends

According to Mitel, the V2 mainboard in OpenScape Business is no longer supported after 31 December 2026. From that date, the system cannot be reached through Mitel’s remote access platforms, such as RSP, and there will be no further software or security updates.

The system does not stop working that day, but new security vulnerabilities stay unpatched. There are three ways forward.

Keep the system. We continue to provide support on V2, with remote access that you control. No partner can provide fixes from Mitel, so we go through what that means for your security.

Upgrade. The mainboard is replaced with a newer one, so that the system receives Mitel’s updates again. Phones, boards and licences can often be kept.

Replace. We move you to another platform or to Teams, step by step. Read more about PBX migration.

Not sure which mainboard you have? We find out in the inventory.

How we help you

Common questions

Frequently asked questions about Mitel OpenScape Business

What happens when support for OpenScape Business V2 ends?

According to Mitel, the V2 mainboard is no longer supported after 31 December 2026. The system does not stop working, but there will be no further software or security updates, and remote access through Mitel’s platforms ends. We can continue to provide support and help you plan the next step.

What does it take to move from V2 to V3?

The mainboard is replaced, and according to Mitel, software version V2R7 is required for the move itself. Phones, boards and licences can often be kept. We go through what applies to your system in the inventory.

Do you also work with smaller companies?

Yes. OpenScape Business is built for small and medium-sized businesses, and we are glad to look after smaller installations too, in Sweden and Germany.

Does OpenScape Business work with Teams?

Yes, via Direct Routing and a Microsoft-certified SBC, which the PBX connects to over SIP. According to Mitel, it requires a Networking licence and valid Software Support.

Does Mitel CX work with OpenScape Business?

It is not among the PBXs that Mitel CX 3.0 is validated against. OpenScape Business has its own contact centre as an option, and Mitel Workflow Studio supports the system.

Do you support HiPath 3000?

Yes, in Sweden and Germany, even if another supplier has looked after the system. We find out what Mitel still provides for your version, and when the time comes we help you move on to OpenScape Business or another platform.

Can we move from HiPath 3000 to OpenScape Business?

Yes, according to Mitel. Depending on the version, the housing, power supply and many boards and phones can be kept, and often only the mainboard, software and licence file are replaced. We go through what applies to your system in the inventory.

Can OpenScape Business run virtually?

Yes, OpenScape Business S. Mitel lists VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, Proxmox and Google Cloud. If you need ISDN or analogue extensions, a physical model is connected to it.
