Ascom DECT
Ascom DECT is a range of wireless phones for organisations, with an alarm button on the Protector models. We look after your whole Ascom DECT system, from the base stations to the handsets, and its connection to the PBX.
About Ascom DECT
Wireless phones connected to the PBX
Ascom d43, d63 and d83 are DECT phones for businesses. The d83 is also available in an EX version for explosive atmospheres.
DECT has its own frequency band, 1880–1900 MHz, which is not shared with Wi-Fi. The band is licence-exempt in Sweden, so no permit is needed.
Ascom IP-DECT connects to the PBX over the network using SIP. Older Ascom base stations and handsets can be connected to IP-DECT through Ascom’s gateway and stay in use.
We look after the whole DECT system: the base stations, the handsets and the connection to the PBX. When something does not work, we troubleshoot the whole chain, from the handset to the PBX.

How we help you
What we do with Ascom DECT
The DECT system
Base stations, handsets and changes. We troubleshoot when calls drop or coverage falls short.
The connection to the PBX
We look after the connection between the DECT system and the PBX, and the extensions and numbering plan in the PBX.
Upgrades
When the PBX or the DECT system is upgraded, we include the connection in the plan and test it afterwards.
Teams
The d43, d63 and d83 work with Teams via Microsoft’s SIP Gateway. We go through what this requires on your side.
Use cases

Lone working
The d63 Protector and d83 Protector have an alarm button. The d83 Protector also raises an alarm if the user falls, stops moving or pulls the alarm cord.

Explosive atmospheres
The d83 is available in an EX version for areas where there is a risk of explosion.
Alarms from other systems
Ascom Unite can send alarms from systems such as nurse call and fire alarms to the DECT phones.
Location
The d83 can show where the person is when an alarm goes off, using DECT, IR or LF positioning.

Common questions
Frequently asked questions about Ascom DECT
Do you need a licence to use DECT?
No. DECT uses the 1880–1900 MHz band, which is reserved for DECT and licence-exempt in Sweden.
Which Ascom phones have alarms?
The d63 Protector and d83 Protector have an alarm button. The d83 Protector also raises an alarm if the user falls, stops moving or pulls the alarm cord.
Do you look after the whole DECT system?
Yes, from the base stations and handsets to the connection to the PBX.
Does Ascom DECT work with our PBX?
In most cases. Ascom IP-DECT connects to the PBX over SIP, and it has been certified for Mitel OpenScape Voice V11 and OpenScape 4000 V10. For other PBXs and versions, we check what applies to you.
Can the phones be used with Teams?
Yes. The d43, d63 and d83 work with Teams via Microsoft’s SIP Gateway. We go through with you what this requires on your side.
Can we keep our older Ascom DECT system?
Often, yes. With Ascom’s gateway, older Ascom base stations and handsets can be connected to IP-DECT and stay in use. Which route suits you depends on the system and the PBX.
Can the phones withstand disinfection?
Yes, the d63 and d83. The d63 withstands splashing water (IP44), and the d83 withstands dust and water jets (IP65).
